How to Build a World-Class Facebook Page
Why you should listen to me on this topic: A few years ago I started a blogging program. It grew from one person writing feverishly (me) to a staff of about 30 people. Readership is today approaching the 1,000,000 mark. Facebook was a huge part of this growth, and today that blogging effort commands the engagement of about 500,000 fans. I won’t get into growth numbers, but I will say that growth of healthy FB Pages is without any doubt compound. That’s a really big deal.
Time for Pro Tips!

- Make your page all about the idea, the cause, or the topic.
- Invite great people who know a lot about the topic to join.
- Curate the community content, and highlight the work of the best community members.
- Watch engagement metrics for stories you post, and watch them closely. High-engagement content leads to your Page being featured in the News Feed of individual users more often.
- Be patient. Pages need time to grow, and will do so if curated thoughtfully.
- Advertise your Page. Facebook Ads get a bad rap because people do not understand how to use them effectively. One way to minimize friction (lower cost) is to advertise in-Facebook properties such as Pages. Watch your Cost per Action, and always launch at least 3 variations of an ad, varying the picture you use, as well as the message.
There is industry secret stuff too. Buy me a beer sometime.
